We’re delighted that you’re considering to submit your work to Good Day Cork.
 
Deadlines:
  • We’re publishing four issues in 2024 i.e in March, June, Sept and Dec.
  • We’re open for submissions all year round for each issue. So there are different deadlines.

Overview of call for submissions:
Good Day Cork is open for submissions of fiction, non-fiction, poetry, visual art and short comic strips (all art in black & white only).
 
Guidelines:
 
  • You must reside in Republic of Ireland and are age 18+.
  • No AI generated content.
  • We’re more likely to publish prose which is under 760 words.
  • We suggest prose writers submit relevant & credited photographs in.jpg or .png formats and must be in hi-resolution – more than 70dpi. These will be used either in the zine or for online promotions.
  • You can submit upto 2 poems.
  • We welcome multilingual prose & poetry with English translations.
  • Please limit art submissions to 2 pieces which can fit an A5 page each. 
  • Please limit your comic strip that can fit within no more than two A5 pages.
  • Art must be in hi-resolution – more than 70dpi and in .jpg  or .png formats.
  • You must let us know if your submission has been published elsewhere when you send us your submission – so that we can congratulate you & if your piece is chose we’d like to acknowledge that your piece has been previously published by ‘ABC’.

What are we looking for?

  • Good Day Cork is a multi-media platform with the aim to change the narrative.
  • Themes/Genres/Formats include & are not restricted to – solidarity, love, peace, social justice, compassion kindness, climate change, mental health, women’s health, trans health, gender, equity,  parenting, age, food, history, geography intersectional-feminism, romance, wit, humour, satire, erotica, mystery, technology, science, essays, interviews, creative fiction/non-fiction, poetry, spoken word and more.

Who are we looking for?

  • We’re looking for prose, poetry, art from new artists, amateur and published writers & artists.
  • We’re looking for submissions from queer community, Travellers, people living with disabilities, BIPOC and other unheard communities on any themes/genre.
  • We’re also looking for submission from all allies of unheard communities.
Payment
  • Chosen writers/artists will be sent two copies of the zine when published.
  • We are unable to pay for submissions currently, but we will nominate select work for an annual award of €100 in Dec 2024.
