A groundbreaking initiative is bringing life-changing transportation to young people in Cork, thanks to a collaboration between local businesses and community leaders.

The Support Local Business initiative, spearheaded by Sarah Wall and Glenn Wall, has successfully funded a minibus for the YMCA in Cobh and Cork city—completely free of charge.

This innovative project allows local businesses to sponsor the minibus through affordable advertising, ensuring that a vital community service is provided while also offering visibility to participating sponsors.

The model, which has seen tremendous success in Belgium with over 200 such buses on the road, has now been introduced in Ireland, marking a major milestone in local business and charity partnerships.

“We saw a real need for accessible transport within community organisations, especially for young people who rely on services like the YMCA,” said Sarah Wall. “Local businesses have been incredible in supporting this project—not just for advertising benefits, but because they truly want to give back.”

The minibus will serve as a critical resource for the YMCA, helping young people access educational programmess, training opportunities, and community initiatives that might otherwise be out of reach due to transportation barriers.

With 22 minibuses already donated to charities in Belgium, the Support Local Business initiative continues to grow with the concept now coming to Ireland , demonstrating the power of community-driven change.

There are still spaces on the minibus for business owners to come forward to help and in return advertise, it will be extremely beneficial for both parties.

As it stands this is the only minibus in Ireland that currently has this concept!
