Waiting Game

Spent the best years of my life
Believing a lie
Making friends that would one day think
I deserved to die
The 25th of September
A Friday autumn morning
In my art class came the moment
My true self was aborning

For the first time in forever
Everything felt right
Not knowing of the dangers
That soon would come to light
I thought that my adventure
Was coming to an end
But a sword was put into my hand
My existence I had to defend

No retired soldier
Should have to see blood once more
Yet here we are on the battlefield
Our fight becoming a war
Showers in the shadows
No focus put upon
The scars that surround us
From a brawl just begun

These children turned heroes
Cannot tell their tale
No government will honour
The mountains they scale
Instead they are shown
Atrocities that await
Its then that we realise
We were waiting to wait

Dragon Born

I woke up to a world full of pitchforks
Who wanted to see my kind burn
As soon as I hatched from that egg
My right to of hatched was one to earn
The sky pointed its fingers
The sea tried to control my form
But I fought my fight regardless
For I was the dragon born

My wings no longer clipped
I was able to take to the sky
I left their expectations broken
And their logic I would defy
I fought them with their own flames
Leaving warlocks running to warn
Their masters of the menace
That was I the dragon born

But my chains could never be broken
Until my kindred equaled me in power
The fire that once freed me
Would keep leaving calamity to cower
So until that sun surfaces
On the golden torch I’ve sworn
I’d never let the fire extinguish
For I am the dragon born
