Hosted by Good Day Cork & The Environmental Forum.
About our book and zine:
Last year, we hosted a guided walk of the Mardyke Trail with the Environmental Forum. Everyone shared their reflections on the day. We have put them all into a hand-made book and published a zine. The book will be revealed and there will be limited free copies of the zine on the day!
Important: The book was made with support from Cork Equal and Sustainable Communities Alliance (CESCA) & Irish Environmental Network (IEN). The zine is published with support from SICAP – Cork City Partnership.
Acknowledgements: The hand-made book (artefact) is created by Elize De Beers. The zine is designed by Ekta Bhardwaj.
Additional note from our founder Joanna Dukkipati
At a time when our children are being killed, many people we know are discriminated against & many people with power seem to forget that our humanity is at stake… this book reveal & zine launch seems frivolous to the naked eye.
I have to remind myself everyday that our voices matter… being in nature matters.
I remind myself that kindness is a choice … respecting others wholly is a choice. It takes tremendous effort to practise these values. And it’s worth it.
⭐️ What place does this book have in the present?
It’s a hand made balm & the ingredients are nature connection, placemaking, respect for nature + each other, grounding & hope.
⭐️ What place will this book have in the future?
It will be a great memory & an archive of ordinary people doing ordinary things which might be taken for granted as we move closer to AI & multitudes of crises.
This book will not solve the human crises we’re experiencing nor the climate crisis – but it will remind us that we’re also made of the good stuff.
